Volunteering with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee

Benjamin Perlin

Benjamin Perlin, a creative photographic artist, leads Ben Perlin Photography in Nashville. Dedicated to supporting his community, Benjamin Perlin volunteers for several charities, including the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

Second Harvest relies heavily on donated time from volunteers who help with everything from office duties to special events. Volunteers are encouraged to participate as individuals, families, or groups.
Individuals and families are free to select their volunteer hours. Second Harvest maintains individual food sorting opportunities Monday through Thursday evening, Tuesday and Thursday morning, and Saturday afternoon. The food bank also hosts Family Night, a volunteer event held every Thursday evening and open to everyone over the age of 6.
Second Harvest maintains three project work spaces that accommodate up to 100 volunteers at once. All members of a volunteer group must be at least 18 years old and must register on the food bank’s website before their volunteer day. Young people aged 12 through 17 can volunteer in school groups, but they must turn in waivers signed by a parent or guardian.
